About Mahalo
Mahalo was christened Flying Cloud in 1968 and kept her original name until Holly purchased her in 2007.  The name change symbolized a life change for the boat.  No longer will she be a racer. She will live the life of a cruiser.   Holly plans to cruise local waters, Mexico, the South Pacific and beyond aboard Mahalo...

Mahalo means "thank you" in Hawaiian.  When Holly finally decided to look for a Cal 40, everything came together as if it was destiny.  Holly was so grateful that Mahalo was the only choice for a new name.

As Flying Cloud, the boat participated in numerous Trans Pac races, the last one being in 2003.  When Holly purchased Flying Cloud, she came with an entire set of new racing sails, new electronics and lots of goodies.  She also came with a list of things to fix and change before being easy to single hand.  The big things got done right away, the next huge list was taken care of for the 2008 Baja Ha-Ha, including a new engine, and today there is only the regular list of on-going projects that all boats have.

Holly's goal is to make everything on board safe, simple, strong and aesthetically pleasing.

Mahalo is truly a beautiful boat to look at and a magical boat to sail.
